Each cakepop ball is chocolate cake dipped in navy blue candy melts & detailed with white. Each cakepop book is white cake dipped in white candy melts & detailed with navy blue to resemble a book cover.
Each sugar cookie is iced with confectioner’s icing & detailed to reflect the novel Hidden in Plain View: A Secret Story of Quilts and the Underground Railroad by Jacqueline L. Tobin & Raymond G. Dobard.
Both the cookies and the cakepops turned out to be much simpler and more boring than I wanted them to be; but the detail was too much for the space allotted – I couldn’t even do it with a toothpick or an edible fine tip marker. I was also planning on adding “lines of text” to the open books, but that, too, wasn’t fine enough and just looked terrible. So plain books & empty pages it is. Disappointing, but they still tasted delicious!
